About Janet
Janet is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Adams State University completing her clinical training at Valiant Living, where she has been serving for the past year. She will graduate in May and has completed the required licensure examinations, with plans to apply for LPCC upon graduation. She is also pursuing her Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential and is currently engaged in CSAT training to deepen her work in addiction treatment.
Her previous experience in addiction includes both court-mandated and residential treatment settings, supporting clients through system navigation and early recovery stabilization. Janet is especially drawn to addiction work and is committed to helping clients explore the deeper emotional and relational patterns that drive addictive behaviors. She believes recovery is not simply about stopping a behavior, but about building a life that no longer requires it.
Janet approaches her work with curiosity, looking beyond surface behaviors to understand the broader influences shaping them. She recognizes that addictive patterns can be influenced by many factors including stress, past experiences, relational dynamics, and other life circumstances unique to each person. Her goal is to help clients build insight, strengthen awareness, and move toward responses that align with their values and long-term goals.
In her free time, Janet enjoys exploring new interests, developing new skills, and spending time with her family.
