About TJ

TJ is a Primary Therapist at Valiant Living, where he works with individuals navigating substance use and sex addiction, as well as intimacy disorders. He is an LPCC and training to be a CSAT. His clinical work is grounded in attachment theory and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and informed by Gestalt and Adlerian perspectives. He approaches therapy through a relational lens, believing that meaningful change happens within the context of an authentic, engaged therapeutic relationship.

TJ does not view addiction as a simple behavior problem or a matter of willpower. More often, he sees it as something that once made sense—an attempt to manage pain, loneliness, fear, or overwhelm. In therapy, he helps clients explore what their coping strategies have done for them, what they have cost them, and what healthier patterns could begin to take their place. Much of his work centers on helping clients learn how to tolerate difficult emotions, understand what is happening underneath them, and build relationships that feel secure rather than chaotic or distant. His goal is not just insight, but meaningful change that translates into how clients live their daily lives.

Prior to joining Valiant Living, TJ earned his counseling degree from Denver Seminary. Before entering the clinical field, he worked in business and finance—an experience that informs his practical, structured, and goal-oriented approach to treatment.

Outside the therapy room, TJ enjoys playing board games, staying active outdoors, playing pickleball, and volunteering within his church community.
